Hearty Days Ahead!

Today I started my new job!  Yeah!

My official job title is "Applications Processor" at Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC), in Ellicott City/Columbia, Maryland.  I'm working in the echocardiography (also known as simply "echo") department, processing and helping sonographers and doctors with applications for accreditation.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

But that's ok - I spent most of the day today reading documents explaining exactly what the application is like.  And...I'll be doing that tomorrow.  And probably a while more.

The little department area I'll be working in has all things hearts decorating the ceilings and windows.  I'll have 3 main coworkers and 3 supervisors-ish, one of whom is the director of the department.  All three are sonographers, so they know what's going on and know the standards that should be present in practice already.

Plus I get a fancy shmancy key card to get in and out of the office and office building.  And there is a free gym on-site.  Woohoo!

I'm excited to be at this new position and excited about all I'll get to learn while here.

Wish me luck!  I have a lot to learn.

Grandma Funnies

While going through some papers this weekend,I found some things I'd written down from a visit with my great- grandma Kay, a year or so ago.  Here's a story she shared with me:

When Grandma was living at Legacy, next to the Jordan River temple, one day she was downstairs at the front desk when the man behind the desk told her, " You are looking at the most handsome man in the world. Did you know that?"

She told me, "I couldn't deny it, it was the gospel truth."

( She couldn't see well enough to know the difference.)

Then a lady near her leaned over and said, "Don't believe him.  He looks like Satan!"

I can't read this and not laugh out loud every single time.
