The New Star in Heaven, and Stars Around Town

Living in northern Utah, the center of Mormon culture, it is not unheard of to see Mormon celebrities.  The beauty of it, though, is that they are still normal people!  Just extremely talented normal people.

Over the weekend we drove down to Utah county to see the play "The First Christmas," put on by Liken.  My uncle and 3 of his kids participated in the play as heavenly hosts, choir members, and multiple other roles.  They were all over the place!  It was a really great play, and we felt the Spirit while listening to and watching the performance.

After the play, we went out to the lobby to say hi to all the actors.  They were having a special, so we purchased the movie which was made a few years ago.  The play was based upon the same script and songs.  We got a free CD with it, and chose the soundtrack that goes with David & Goliath.  Dan Beck was in the house, as he plays Gabriel in the play/movie, so I asked him to sign the CD soundtrack (he plays King Saul in David & Goliath).  So fun!  Another little girl who was in the choir asked if we wanted her autograph as well, so we have a few extra on there!

One of the actresses in the play is the same woman who plays the mom on the "R.M."  She was riding back to Salt Lake county with my uncle and his family, so we were able to talk to her.  It was all I (meaning Caleb) could do not to jump up and down with excitement and scream little girl.  She was a pretty normal lady, though, so we tried not to scare her and refrained from freaking out.

Thanks to my family who gave us tickets to all go together and see the play.  You all did great!

Advent Day 1

I am so excited that Christmas will be here in just a few short weeks!  This will be my first Christmas back in the US since 2008, and I am a little sad about not getting to see my family this year.  However, I am not going to let it get me down!

In honor of my wonderful mother's birthday, and it being the first day of December, beginning the countdown 'til Christmas, here is this awesome video that you should watch:
