I'm still a little kid, it appears.

These fruit snacks are DELICIOUS.

Yep.  They are.

My Walmart here has them for sale at $2.00 a box (10 pouches in each box), and all the ones at our store have a $1 off coupon on them.  So 10 pouches for a dollar.

Pretty awesome.

I'm sure they're not that healthy, but they are delicious.  So there.

Review: Temple Grandin HBO movie

I watched this movie, Temple Grandin, with Caleb last night.

Good movie, I highly recommend it.  It is about Temple Grandin, a woman who grew up (and still lives) with autism.  She is famous for her work in changing the way animals are slaughtered to a more humane, less stressful (on the animals) system.  She noticed patterns in how animals behaved and worked with those patterns.  She learned how to function and make a difference while still dealing with the struggles of autism.

It's an HBO movie, but I imagine you could find it at your library - that's where I got the copy I watched.

Add to the Bucket List!

This is officially on the bucket list for me.

Who wants to join me?!!

Door-to-Door Summer Jobs

Door-to-door salesmen typically stay away from student apartments.  I assume it's because of the lack of money many students seem to have.

Though I do believe most of America seems to have this problem.

Anywho, I opened the door yesterday afternoon to a man wanting to tell me about this great summer job opportunity, selling pest control.

You can imagine my excitement.

He told me where and when the information seminar was that night.  I told him thanks, I'd let my roommates know in case they were looking for work; thankfully I was already employed at the moment.

His response?

"Well, you know, most of these kids here I hear are making only 8, 9 bucks tops an hour.  And if that's where you're at, you are just not going to get ahead in this life."

Gee, I didn't know that working for near-minimum wage to support myself while in school was so looked down upon.

I smiled, thanked him for the information, and closed the door.

Anyone else have stories of offensive door-to-door people?  I don't think offending the people you're talking to is a great way to garner their interest in what you're offering/selling.

My "valentine" gave me the best thing a girl like me could ask for today:

Tillamook Mudslide ice cream.

I am one lucky lady.

After having pizza for dinner, we went to the Aggie basketball game, where we played Montana Tech and won 70-58.  Perfect way to end the night.

No picture, I forgot.  Whoops!

Happy Valentine's Day to all!

P.S. I still think it's a bit of a silly holiday, but I will refrain from saying much about it.

I Am A Nerd

Today is February 10, 2012.

Or 2-10-2012

2 times 10 is equal to 20.

2 plus 10 is equal to 12.

Put those together.....

Oh my goodness.

You realize this won't happen again until 3/10/3013.

Just kidding it probably will happen again.  I just don't exactly have the time to compute the probabilities right this second.

That Feeling

I just finished and turned in via e-mail another homework assignment for my actuarial class.

This semester I've been placed in a group with three other students who are about as smart as I am.  This is shocking, as I thought I was the only one struggling in the class.  Last semester my group would have the homework already done before I showed up to the group meeting (where we were supposed to work on the homework together).  They would let me know they already had it done and would answer questions later if I had any.  We only turned in one piece of paper for the entire group, so my homework was already done for me.

So this semester I've had to actually do my homework.  And now I understand it!  I just finished an entire Excel file, with 30-some columns and 100-some rows with calculations in each cell, and turned it in as one problem of my homework assignment.  It is so nice to work hard on something all day, get a few pointers from my group members, and be able to finish something, know it is complete and correct, and feel like you have completely earned the A you'll be given.

Ahhhh.  Math class is finally making sense. :)

Less than three months until I walk up to get my diploma!

Wish List

I've never really been a shoe person, but I would really like a pair of these:

They're even a socially responsible company!

Ok, now that you all feel warm and fuzzy inside and good about these shoes, someone can please go buy me a pair.

Or,  you can buy the alternative:

Looks the same..........
