Heavy Lifting

I just did one of the strangest things in my life.

My roommate Melanie came and asked me a favor while I was eating lunch.

"Hey, Kierstin, can you help me with something?"

"Sure thing, Mel, what can I do for ya?"

"Well, for my workout this week I'm supposed to push my car around. Will you steer it while I do that?"

"Um, sure."

My roommate is on the track team, and throws. She does shot put, and other things.

So I sat in her big SUV and kept it going straight while she pushed the car from one side of the parking lot to the other, 5 times.

It's kind of frightening knowing I live with someone who could totally take me out if she wanted to.

Life Lessons at the Dentist

Today I learned you should speak up as quickly as possible if you find that the anesthetic for your jaw was not strong enough.

Don't try to be a hero.

Because after the initial drilling comes the bigger drill.

And that one hurts a lot more than the first.

If you wait too long to tell the dentist that you are not numb (where 'telling the dentist' involves throwing your hands in the air, trying not to cry, and tears falling out of your eyeballs anyway), he'll apologize profusely and stop. However, he'll just fix your tooth enough so that you can survive until the next time, because he won't continue with that filling at that appointment. He'll just finish polishing the first filling.

Which means I get to go do it again in 2 days.

Zip a dee doo dah.

Where's Matt?!

I'm too shy to post the real title here, but one of my friends posted this on her blog, and it reminded me of how much I love this video!

I just can't help smiling through the whole thing. :)

Enjoy!

I'm Baaa-aaack!

You've gotta love it when a roommate leaves the freezer open just long enough to ruin your ice cream bars.

Will post Disney World stuff and pictures soon.

Gotta run - I have an apartment to clean.

On Dreams

Everyone has weird dreams, but I think I inherited something from my mom, her extremely wacky and vivid dreams.  I know it has got to have something to do with what you eat or what you do that day/week, because the dreams will come in spurts, maybe one every night for a week, and then no remarkable dreams for a month or at least a day.

Like this week.

Earlier this week, I had a dream that I killed all these people I know.  I wasn't angry at a single person; for some reason, I just killed everyone.  In my dream, I felt remorseful afterward, but it of course didn't change anything.

I woke up sweating and it was terrible.  Trust me, it freaked me out just as much as it freaks you out now.  Probably.

Then last night I had this dream that my family and I were in some midwestern state, in a house.  Some weird stuff, supernatural-ly stuff, happened earlier, then I had to work under extremely demanding conditions at Wally World, and then the next morning, on Christmas morning or something similar, all of a sudden we were shaken by some burst of energy on the ground.  We looked up, and this wave of massive tornadoes was coming from everywhere.

Talk about stressful.

I started screaming at everyone to get in the basement, because everyone seemed frozen with fear and confused.  After I screamed for a while, everyone started moving.  I had to go back and forth, back and forth up the stairs, finally getting my mom, who didn't seem concerned at all, to come downstairs to the basement.  It was only then that I discovered the house we were in was more like a multi-split-level house, so the basement was only really half a basement.  I was terrified for our lives, but then nothing really happened.

I woke up feeling stressed out, and glad to be awake.

I hate these dreams!  But they sure do make a good story to tell after.

More Than a Little Sad...

My day started at 5:30 when my alarm went off.  I got up and got to work at 7, then worked by myself until 9 when another coworker came in.

I spent half my shift looking for another coworker who fixes bikes, trying to help a customer get a question answered, only to find out that after I went to all the trouble of getting an answer and called her back to answer her question, she had already come in the store, talked to the employee herself, and gotten an answer.  I felt really dumb at that point.

Then another customer called to tell me she left her bag of groceries at the register, started in on the cashier who had 'not given' her her bag, then proceeded to tell me I was "f*@#$(*#(*ng retarded" when I told her all she needed to do was bring her receipt in any time and I'd be more than happy to fix that for her.  She hung up on me after telling me that she didn't have her receipt, before I had the chance to tell her that that would be ok this time, that I trusted her (not really).  Now she lost that chance to get her groceries back.  Too bad.

In the last ten minutes of my shift, I had a girl come to return a bunch of crock pots from her wedding, just in time for me to not be able to speak, have a fit of coughing, stop breathing, and have my coworker have to take over my register for me while I ran to another area to try to regain control of my lungs.  I've been sick for more than a week.  Bleh.

Now I'm home and trying to figure out math.  It's overwhelming me, and my test is on Wednesday.

To top it all off, my gorgeous sister is graduating high school tonight, and I'm so bummed for her that no extended family can be there.  My grandparents drove all the way from Portland, Oregon for my graduation, and I as her sister can't even be there tonight.

I'm hoping that going out to pizza with friends and going to a dance tonight hopefully with friends as well will change the direction of this day.

Thief

One of my roommates ate most of the last piece of fudgy birthday chocolate cake.

Some things cannot be tolerated.

If you hear about something on the news, it wasn't me.................

Free Advertising

Okay, I am really liking these two artists.  No, I don't know much about either.  But all of a sudden I just love their music!

Sooo....you should probably check out their music if you find yourself interested as well!  I think you all would like it too, otherwise I probably wouldn't suggest it on this here blog.

First:

Bianca Merkley

This is the sister of one of Kaitlin's friends from the Dominican who goes to school with me, but who is not really my friend, more of an acquaintance, sort of.

That was an awkward explanation.

Anyway.  Check out this link and there is a free download of her song "I Never Knew" available.  She's trying to earn money for the recording of an album, so if you like it, maybe download the rest!  I love the song, but no, I have not purchased the whole album, Promise, yet.

Second:

Christina Perri

She sings the song, "Jar of Hearts", which you may or may not have heard on the radio recently.  I don't know how popular it is yet.

I checked out the rest of her music on that album, called lovestrong, and it all sounds pretty good.  And clean, as far as I can tell.  I like it, and she's really talented.  Amazon's got a pretty good deal on her album.

Wait!  I just listened to one song and it has one little teensy tiny swear word!  So don't listen to that one okay?  And if you accidentally do listen to it, I'm sorry!

Um, yeah.  So this commercial is now over.

Graduation

Today I thought of something, and wanted to text my sister Kaitlin.

Then I remembered:

A.  I don't have her phone number anyway.

B.  If I had her phone number, I couldn't text her or even call her anyway.

Hmm.  This will change in a few months when she moves to Utah again.

SWEET.
